Father
Son Learning (Avos Ubanim)
Father
Son Learning, also know as Avos Ubanim, is a father and son
learning program that was first initiated by Torah Umesorah in
many communities across the United States and is sponsored by the
Yehuda Mond Foundation every motzai Shabbos at the Yeshiva of
Greater Washington. The program is directed by Rabbi Amram Hess, a
eight grade Rebbe at the Yeshiva of Greater Washington.
The
program includes a father with son chavrusa learning on any topic
of their choice. The program is geared from children pre-k up to
eighth grade. After the father son learning session the the older
group discusses a contemporary Halachic issue for 10 minutes and
the younger group is presented with a spell binding story on a
Jewish topic. For both groups following the 45 minute learning,
pizza is served and many prizes are won each week.
It
is a valuable time for father son bonding in a friendly and warm
Torah environment.
