Gifts From Hashem

We must constantly remind ourselves of the wonderful blessings that we have. We do know, but maybe we need to be even more aware of how fortunate we are, down to the minutest details. The gratitude that we should have to Hashem is almost unending, considering that even the breath that we take should not be taken for granted. Maybe because we are creatures of habit we make many assumptions that are incorrect. The Nesivos Shalom says that both in davening and throughout the day we should imagine that we are drowning in a rough turbulent sea and we beseech Hashem to throw us a lifeline. Life has so many challenges and the closer we are connected to Hashem, the more we will feel the effects of the lifeline. We never know why we are given great nisyonos or great brachos but we are taught that both are designed to help us reach greater heights in becoming ovday Hashem. A Tzaddik is in fact someone who is always striving to exercise the gifts that Hashem has given him in order to reach his potential. If we do not use the gifts that we were blessed with, it is an expression of lack of gratitude to the Giver and some say even theft, since it is an inappropriate use of a gift. Let us all strive to see AND acknowledge the many gifts that we posses.
